(dek-ore) to plan and execute the design, furnishings, and ornamentation of the interior of (a house, office, apartment, etc.), esp. by selecting colors, fabrics, and style of furniture, by making minor structural changes

Kitchen Livingroom
OK, you have a home and the interior is looking a little tired or you would like to change the style but you feel that you are unable to achieve this on your own. A good decorator is what you need.
First thing to do is call me and we’ll arrange to meet at your home
The basics are: budget and style of living
Choosing the colors that surround you and your family members is very relevant. We tend to take color for granted and don’t seem to realize how color affects our lives. An example is if your bedroom is not a good color for you it can affect your sleep or your physical activity. I am not trying to get too personal here, I just want to make you aware of scientific facts on the power of color and how it can affect the body and our moods
Choosing the right fabric, furniture, flooring, cabinets etc. can be an expensive proposition. The reason I am here is to prevent you from making expensive mistakes
I pass off all my designer discounts to you. This way if you are on a budget those few extra dollars in savings will possibly prevent you from having to compromise and we can spend that money elsewhere perhaps on a piece of art or something else you desire.
The most important part of my job is listening to what your needs are. Most people don’t know what they want but are pretty sure as to what they don’t want. If you have a definite plan or idea I will try to make sure it is true to YOUR vision
Prioritizing is a must if there is a budget to consider. One room at a time is OK if that is what we need to do to stay true to the budget and get the job done. It is always better to have one great room complete than a bunch of half finished areas. You are the boss …I am just here to make sure your lifestyle is reflected, no expensive mistakes, and you love your end results
Kitchen: I chose white cabinets & had a glass inserted into one cabinet to create a display cabinet. Black granite counter tops, black appliances were chosen to compliment. White tiles set on a 45 degree accented randomly with small decorative tiles in silver & black were used for the back splash. By doing this it created consistency and complimented the kitchen hardware hence the area came together in a cohesive design. I had the kitchen counter made deeper so that it could be used as an eating bar or serving area. Originally the floor plan had an area for eating (part of the family room) but I felt it wasn’t necessary to have a table & chairs as just a few feet away was the dining room. With today’s casual living two actual eating areas is a waste of space unless you have a large family or entertain a lot and require the extra table & chairs
Family Room: This room, as well as the kitchen and down the hall is painted in Potters Red (Benjamin Moore), a delicious warm color. I custom designed the wall & entertainment cabinet surrounding the fireplace which made this room appear wider & very cozy. I placed the furniture at an angle using the fireplace & built-ins as a central focal point. By doing this it visually created more space. Adding a large area carpet grounded this warm, friendly & casual family room.
No matter who comes into this part of the house the comment usually is “boy do I ever love this color, it is so inviting”.
