BEFORE __________________________________________________________
Before:
My first consultation with Barb was to see her kitchen (pictured above far right) which without any doubt included her sitting & eating area. As you can see in the Before picture this area also needed an update
The first thing you could see when you came up to the main floor was this terrible yellow embossed sheet linoleum. A kitchen table, love seat and a very small TV. This room certainly didn't make you feel that you wanted to spend an afternoon lounging. So without any hesitation I told Barb that we needed to combine this room and the kitchen as one project
After:
Now...here is a room that is inviting, warm & cozy
We refaced the fireplace and added a mantle stained the same color as the built in cabinets under the window. Cabinets were built by the same company that built the cabinets in the kitchen. The floor is cork throughout the whole area which was a necessity being that it was really one big space & required the continuity. We did the same for continuity with the paint color. I don’t know if you can see the ceiling very clearly in this picture but I wanted to make you aware that the ceiling was painted the same color as the walls. I recovered the love seat (it was good quality construction) as it looked pretty shabby but not something you would consider shabby chic. Adding an area carpet created a division between both spaces. The new ottoman is great for either putting your feet up, extra seating or using it as a table. The painting above the mantle had originally been in a different room but now the art gave the fireplace its warm finishing touch
